Mayor instructs Urban Bus Company to call bids for 100 buses
Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the Urban Bus Company to call bids for 100 buses for the municipal fleet, despite a lack of funds specifically earmarked for such a purchase, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Urban Bus Company director Iacob Capcelea told the City Hall's meeting on Monday that potential bidders have already showed their interest. One offer was made by a Spanish company, which was willing to sell about 40 buses that are 6 years old for 30,000 euros apiece.
Dorin Chirtoaca replied the price is too big and asked for further prospecting. The Urban Bus Company should call bids in order to identify all the propositions and the amounts required, and then the City Council's consent will be sought to allocate the money.
Today the Urban Bus Company operates 138 buses, of the 350 required.
