The Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca ordered that the General Division of Education, Science, Youth and Sports find a solution that would enable to supply the Chisinau halls of residence with hot water without interruption. According to the mayor, the halls now face at least two major problems: unsatisfactory hygienic conditions and the lack of hot water. He promised he will intervene in solving these problems, though this is not the responsibility of the local authorities. Dorin Chirtoaca said that the municipality is ready to cooperate with the managements of the higher education establishments so as to gradually improve the quality of the services provided for the halls. Currently, the halls are supplied with hot water according to a weekly timetable, the Division’s head Tatiana Nagnibeda said. The Chisinau dormitories are self financing themselves and the administrations of the education institutions bear full responsibility for their maintenance. Tatiana Nagnibeda said that she will offer the rector’s offices of the higher education establishments in Chisinau that the municipality assumes part of the responsibly in maintaining the halls of residence.
