Mayor dissatisfied with fall cleanup
Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has again voiced dissatisfaction with the inefficient cleanup work in the city.
At a City Hall meeting on Monday the Mayor said that following inspections of streets that had been toured during an off-site meeting of the Chisinau City Hall he found that in many cases the situation was even worse than at the first inspection.
Dionisie Boaghie, the head of the department for public services and amenities, informed that some 300 workers and 360 functionaries are involved in daily cleanup. About 50 to 60 loads of fall foliage are transported out of the city each day. The main streets from all the districts are serviced at 80 percent, and now the workers have moved inside the quarters, where the result is lower, about 50 percent. Boaghie added that all the fall leafage is expected to be disposed of by December 10.
The Mayor said that the biggest problem is not the seasonal leaf fall, but the disposal of leafage in unauthorised places. Dorin Chirtoaca requested a better synchronisation between the Motorsanitation Division and the managers of the housing sector, as well as of the municipal police in order to keep the residential areas and the streets in the city clean.
According to Tudor Maniv, the director of the Motorsanitation, last week there were collected and transported 23,300 cubic metres of waste.
