Mayor: Chisinau is locomotive of Moldova’s European integration

Chisinau has become the locomotive of change an of Moldova’s European integration, stated Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca on Tuesday during the presentation of his activity report summing up one year from his re-election. “If you remember, in 2007 Chisinau was proposed to become the locomotive of change in Moldova, and the driving force behind our country’s European integration. After five years we can state that this goal has been achieved, and Chisinau does its share in being the locomotive of change and European integration”, stated the Mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca mentioned that Moldova cannot stop at this point, and that the European course must be kept, and one day the living conditions here will be similar to those of EU’s western European member states. “We are aiming at keeping Chisinau’s course towards Europe, trying to develop even more projects for the development of the Municipality, modernizing the city and the suburbs, so that in three years we may obtain a visa-free regime of travel within the European Union, in five years we may obtain the status of an associated country with the EU, and in 10-15 year Moldova may become a fully-fledged member-state of the EU, or in the worst case, a candidate state”, the Mayor said. Tuesday, June 19, marked one year since the local elections when Liberal Dorin Chirtoacă was re-elected as Mayor of the capital.
