Mayor caught taking bribe red-handed
The mayor of Fuzauca village, Soldanesti district, aged 49, was caught red-handed as was taking a bribe of $200, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Interior Ministry.
According to the police, the man was caught as he was taking the money from a citizen to issue a permit to carry passengers on the Fuzauca-Chisinau route.
According to the law, the mayor may be punished by beign fined from 60 to 100 thousand lei or be jailed from 5 to 10 years.
The mayor has not been found to comment the case. Asked by Info-Prim Neo, the village mayor office's accountant from Fuzauca has said she knew nothing about the case.
According to the police, being the manager of a farm “Scortinschi prim” in 2003, the mayor was sentenced for fiscal evasion. In 2006, as he was a manager of SRL “Scarlion Prim”, the mayor punished for selling grain sequestered for debts. He was fined 5,000 lei then.
A 69-year-old lawyer from Sangerei was caught red-handed as she was allegedly receiving 2,000 euros from a woman to influence a writ.
According to the police, the lawyer convinced her client of having connections with an employee of the Sangerei prosecutor's office, but has never fulfilled her promises.
If found guilty of influence peddling, the lawyer may be fined 20-60 thousand lei or be jailed from 3 to 7 years.
The police have registered 75 cases of corruption in Moldova this year.
