Mayor asks Prosecutor's Office to investigate how sidewalk near Central Market was privatized
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the officials in charge to check why the persons selling near the Central Market pay by 50 lei a day and to whom. At Monday's meeting of the City Hall, Dorin Chirtoaca sought exhaustive answers from those who possess information about how the 7 meters of sidewalk situated near the Central Market and 2 meters of sidewalk inside the market were privatized by the company Mercuriu-Centru, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The municipal police chief Silviu Musuc said the police are investigating the case, but cannot yet make the information they possess public.
The Law Division head Diana Gurschi said the building located on Armeneasca St was privatized in 2000. Several years later, there was privatized the adjoining territory though the area between the streets Stefan cel Mare – Armeneasca – Tighia – Varlaam was declared of public and cannot be sold.
The mayor insisted that the Prosecutor's Office should clarify this case. According to the head of the Central Market, all the areas inside the market can be privatized.
The local authorities now have about 600 hectares of land that can be privatized.
