The mayor of a village of Ialoveni district is accused of committing a grand larceny. The man was placed under arrest for 30 days based on the prosecutors’ requisition, IPN reports.

According to the evidence managed by the Ialoveni Prosecutor’s Office, in July – August the functionary stole car parts and other property assessed at over 147,000 lei from the territory of a tractor brigade situated in Chisinau municipality.

The functionary didn’t admit his guilt. The prosecutors continue the investigation so as to accumulate the necessary evidence and send the case to court.

Grand theft carries a penalty of up to 12 years’ imprisonment.
