Maximum mobilization on Independence Day
More than 3,000 police officers will maintain public order in the
country on the Independence Day. Andrei Maxean, head of the Ministry of
the Interior’s General Police and Public Order Division, told a news
conference that 900 policemen will be on duty in Chisinau on August 27,
Info-Prim Neo reports.
Over 200 police officers will patrol the Great National Assembly Square
and the adjoining area from 7.30. By 11.00, when the cultural-artistic
program starts, the number of policemen will be increased by 450.
The sale of alcoholic beverages and soft drinks in bottles will be
banned in central Chisinau. The persons will be allowed to enter the
central square after they will be searched with metal detectors.
“The persons under the influence of alcohol and who own firearms or
other objects that can cause damage will not be allowed access. We call
on the people to keep an eye on their belongings and the parents not to
leave their children without supervision,” said Andrei Maxean.
The number of operative groups and of employees of the Traffic Police
Division will be raised on a national scale. A number of 785 traffic
police officers will be on guard, 200 of whom in the municipality of
Chisinau.
Traffic Police Division chief Sergiu Armasu said the section between the
streets Banulescu-Bodoni and Pushkin will be accessible to traffic, but
parking there will be banned.
