The highest property damage liability insurance paid to holders of civil liability insurance policy, if the procedure for amicable ascertaining of car accidents is applied, could be increased from 10,000 lei to 15,000 lei, as the National Commission for Financial Markets suggested, IPN reports.
Under the decision drafted by the Commission, maximum insurance of 25,000 lei will be paid to the holders of the Green Card certificate of insurance, if the vehicle is owned or is used by a person insured abroad.
The procedure for amicable ascertaining of minor traffic accidents took effect in September 2019. This can be used for accidents involving two motor vehicles that resulted in insignificant damage to the vehicles. A condition is for the drivers involved in the accident to have internal civil liability insurance and for the person to blame for the accident to be decided by common agreement. Both of the drivers will complete and sign the amicable accident ascertaining form.
According to the National Commission for Financial Markets, in September 2019-May 2020 the insurers received over 3,000 applications for insurance based on the form. In the period, the insurance companies paid insurance totaling over 12.5 million lei in over 2,200 cases.
