Maxim Bolotov wins gold at Kickboxing World Cup
The Moldovan oriental-style kickboxers had an excellent performance at the World Cup held in the Italian town of Rimini. Maxim Bolotov won a hold and a silver in the heaviest class. “It is one of the most precious trophies won by me,” said Bolotov, who became world champion a month ago.
Another two representatives of Moldova – Igor Mosneguta (54kg class) and Andrei Moraru (71kg class), both from Hancesti – won by a bronze medal.
“It was a grand competition that was prepared at a very high level. It involved more than 2,000 athletes from 38 countries,” said the national squad coach Eugen Musalimov.
In a news conference on June 15, Tudor Gorea, president of the National Federation of Oriental Kickboxing, said that European officials are considering organizing an international competition in Moldova. “The officials will come to Moldova in autumn to discuss and analyze the possibility of organizing such a tournament. We now do not have a hall that would accommodate over 1,000 sportspersons,” he stated.
The next competition for the Moldovan kickboxers is the international tournament in Macedonia set to take place later this month.
