Eugen Matveichuk won bronze at the Cadet European Judo Championships that took place in Lithuania’s Kaunas between June 30 and July 2, IPN reports.

In the 81 kg weight class, he beat Estonia’s Karl Tuksammel, Aaron Miller of the UK, Deivid Matusevic of Lithuania and Georgia’s Gocha Gvachliani. In the match for the bronze medal, he won against Ilia Sulamanidze of Georgia and lost only to the future champion Mert Sismanlar of Turkey.

During July 23-30, Eugen Matveichuk will compete in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Gyor, Hungary.
