Maternal Centre to open in Cahul
The Maternal Centre “Trust” that will offer assistance to mothers and pregnant women at increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes will be inaugurated in Cahul on October 18.
At the Centre, the women will be provided with accommodation, medical assistance, psychosocial and legal advice. At the same time, the young mothers will attend professional training courses and will be helped to find a job afterwards.
U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Michael Kirby, representatives of the Government and of international organisations working in Moldova as well as representatives of the civil society will take part in the inauguration. A debate themed “Partnership between Civil Society and Local Public Administration in Cahul District: accomplishments and prospects” will take place after the launch ceremony.
The Maternal Centre “Trust” will open as part of the Project “Better Opportunities for Youth and Women” implemented by the United National Development Programme (PNUD) in Moldova, with the financial support of the U.S. Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), on the initiative of President George Bush for the Anti-Traffic Programme.
The Social Reintegration Centres for Youth work as part of the same project. They prepare the boarding school graduates for an independent life, providing specialised services for their social-economic and professional integration.
