The Chisinau District Electoral Council on June 8 is examining the last challenges concerning the deviations identified in the vote count proceedings compiled after the mayoral runoffs.
Contacted by IPN, the Council’s secretary Vitalie Miron said the report on the election results at the 306 polling places, the received challenges and the decisions of the local electoral body will be transmitted to the Centru branch of the Court of Chisinau in the first half of June 11.
The ballots were already taken to the Court. From June 11, the Court will have ten days to validate or invalidate the election outcome, as it is provided in the Election Code.
Vitalie Miron said the challenges examined by the Council so far do not influence the election results.
In the June 3 mayoral runoffs in Chisinau municipality, the candidate for mayoralty of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase polled 52.57% of the vote, while his rival Ion Ceban, of the Party of Socialists – 47.43%.
