Zimbru and Dacia meet this evening to fight for a place in the final of Moldova’s Cup. The team that will be eliminated loses any chance to compete for qualification for Europa League, IPN reports.
Zimbru and Dacia meet for the second time in the last three days. Dacia lost the May 3 match from the championship by 0-2, but the match from the Cup’s semifinals is the most important duel of the season for both of the teams.
“We must qualify for the final. This is our main objective. If we go through to the final, it does not matter who we meet there. The chances in the final are always equal,” Zimbru coach Oleg Kubarev told a news conference.
“My players exclude failure to qualify for the European cups. If everyone does their utmost, we will not encounter problems with Zimbru,” said the coach of Dacia Dejan Vukicevic.
The last time Dacia and Zimbru met in the semifinals of Moldova’s Cup in 2009. Then, the ‘yellow wolves’ scored a 4-3 victory. Dacia played the last time in the Cup’s final in 2010, while Zimbru won the trophy in 2007 and hasn’t qualified for the final since then.
The May 6 encounter between Zimbru and Dacia starts at 8pm, at the Zimbru Stadium. It is referred by Iurie Rochin. The second semifinal between Milsami and Sheriff takes place in Orhei on May 7. The final is played in Chisinau on May 25.
