The encounter between Moldova and Russia will be controlled by the Greek referees Michael Koukoulakis (chief) and Alexandros Grevenis and Chrysoula Kourompylia, IPN reports.
Chrysoula Kourompylia is the first woman who will referee a game of the national football team of Moldova. She is 38 and has served as a FIFA referee since 2008. This season, Kourompylia refereed a number of matches of the European cups, including Malmo - Red Bull Salzburgm, of the Champions League qualifying rounds, and Legia – Napoli, of the Europa League groups. In 2012, Kourompylia was the victim of an incident in the championship of Greece. The encounter between Aris and Asteras was interrupted after Kourompylia was hit with an object in the abdomen.
The match between Moldova and Russia is played at the Zimbru stadium in Chisinau on October 9, starting at 9:45pm. The game forms part of the qualifying rounds of the 2016 European Championships.
