The wearing of face masks in public places in the municipality of Chisinau is not mandatory as from May 27. The obligation remains in force with reference to closed places and public transport and to meetings and events. A decision to this effect was taken by the Municipal Extraordinary Public Health Commission, IPN reports.
According to mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban, the hospitality industry returns to the normal work regime, by continuing obeying the COVID-19 protective measures. The restriction concerning the shortening of the work program was lifted. Events in restaurants and other public eating places can be held by making sure attendance is of at most 50% of the hall’s capacity.
The Commission also decided that the theaters and other institutions of culture return to the ordinary program by obeying the COVID-19 protective measures (wearing of masks, maintaining of social distancing, triage and disinfection), if the events are held indoors.
According to the latest data, about 106,000 cases of infection and over 1,800 deaths due to COVID-19 have been recorded in Chisinau since the start of the pandemic. As many as 70,102 citizens have been vaccinated with the first dose of vaccine, while 7,350 got both of the doses.
