Four teams of Moldova competed in the Canoe Sprint World Juniors Championship that was held in Trakai, Lithuania. The Alexandru Mashnik - Ivan Korshunov duo had the best performance, IPN reports.

The two ranked seventh in the 2 000 meter race with the result of 6:53:55. Gold was won by Australian athletes (6:34:050). This is the best result achieved by Moldova in canoe after the declaration of its independence.

“We have several promising athletes. We should work with them and could obtain qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Games of 2020,” president of the Moldova Canoe Federation Larisa Popova, Olympic champion in 1980, has told IPN.
