“Martsishor” festival brings together artists from over 20 countries to Chisinau

Artists from over 20 countries will come together in Chisinau to take part the 48th International Music Festival “Martsishor” that opens at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” on March 1. Minister of Culture Monica Babuc told a news conference that the festival this year includes 49 performances of music of different kinds, 21 of which will be given in different districts of the country, IPN reports.

On March 7, a famous Chinese group of dancers with disabilities, consisting of over 100 artists, will perform in Chisinau for the first time. The group had performances in over 60 countries. If the spectators do not know that the dancers suffer from hearing and speech impairments, it’s hard to realize that they have such disabilities, said Monica Babuc.

The minister also said that the Kiev ballet directed by Radu Poclitaru, who is of Moldovan origin, will present “Swan Lake” at the National Opera House “Maria Biesu” on March 5.

Violin player Tatiana Samoila will give a symphonic concert based on works by P. Tchaikovsky at the National Philharmonic “S. Lunkevich” on March 2.

The jazz lovers will be able to listen to Sanya Kroitor Band and Acoustik Drive from Israel on March 4 and the band “Trigon”, together with Nadin Trohin, on March 6, also at the National Philharmonic.

On March 9, the Cultural Artistic Center “Ginta Latină” will host a folklore performance by the best artistic groups of the country. The festival closes on March 10 with concerts at the Organ Hall, the National Palace, and the National Philharmonic.

The budget of “Martsishor” festival this year is about 1.6 million lei. Ticket prices vary between 35 and 150 lei.
