“Martisor 2008” to enter Moldovans’ homes in less than 5 days

In less than 5 days, “Msrtisor 2008” will go into the Moldovans households. Culture and Tourism Minister Artur Cozma said on Tuesday, February 26, the preparations for this year’s edition of the “Martisor-2008” International Music Festival had ended, Info-Prim Neo reports. The minister says this year the event will unfold nation-wide, as more concerts will be staged in district centres, towns and villages where people will go freely. Variegated cultural events dedicated to the Martisor will take place in all Moldova’s diplomatic missions abroad, as the Moldovan Diaspora is expected to get actively involved. According to the Minister, one of the largest concerts will be given by pan-flute player Constantin Moscovici in Kiev. The Culture Minister says a particularity of this edition consists in including events dedicated to young people, in the context of the Youth Year. In this regard, a concert called “My Generation” in which only youths will take part is scheduled for March 2. The minister says the Youth Year opening will take place on February 29 with the participation of President Vladimir Voronin. The only problem in the organisation of the festival is related to posting outdoor advertising in the capital city. Artur Cozma says the Town Hall officials are late in offering a reply to the Government’s request to stretch out promoting banners on the city’s main boulevards. Bands and singers from Germany, Austria, Poland, France, Russia, China, Finland, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus are expected at this year’s festival. The national folklore ensemble “Lautarii”, the jazz bands “Trigon” and Romanian “Alternances”, the singers Anne Veski, Ksenia Gheorghiadi, Maria Codreanu, Nadejda Cepraga and many other renowned artists will perform in those 26 concerts in four edifices in Chisinau – the National Palace, the Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Organ Hall and the “Serghei Lunchevici” National Philharmonic. 40 concerts will be staged in other Moldovan localities. The “Martisor 2008” Festival’s inaugurating concert will be given on March 1 at 18.00 in the National Palace.
