The President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz welcomed the Moldovan Government’s intention to continue the European course. “We approve of the intention of the new Government to follow the European course and to guarantee Moldova’s pro-European future. The EU is a project of peace and stability. We are glad that Moldova supports this direction. You will enjoy all the EU’s support needed for doing reforms and continuing the path to the EU,” Martin Schulz said in a meeting with Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, who is paying an official visit to Brussels, IPN reports.
The officials underlined the importance of strengthening the institutional capacities and discussed projects designed to modernize the country, especially the European energy infrastructure ones. “The energy independence is one of the priorities for the immediate period,” stated the President of the European Parliament.
The Moldovan Premier noted that even if the Government invested on February 18 is a minority one, it aims to secure the support needed for continuing the European integration process. “In this respect, the support we hope to obtain further from the European Parliament and from you personally is very important,” he stated, stressing the importance of making efficient use of the platform for interaction between the legislative bodies of Moldova and Belgium.
