Marriages will cost less

The pairs who want to get married as soon as possible will pay less for having the marriage registered. The charge will be reduced from 8 000 to 5 600 lei if the marriage is registered 24 hours after the application is submitted. A tax of 3 500 lei will be paid for registering a marriage within five days, as against 5 000 lei until now. If a marriage is performed in 15 days, the tax will be 2 000 lei, while in 25 days – 700 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The decision was approved by the Government together with other amendments referring to the civil status services. Deputy Ministry of Justice Vladimir Grosu said a part of the services will be provided free of charge when the application is filed. These services include scheduling appointments for submitting applications for being issued with civil status documents, identifying the civil status document by making connection with the registry offices of the country by phone, issuing copies of civil status documents at the request of judges or the prosecutor’s office. The tariff for examining the application for correcting or modifying the “Nationality” section in the civil status document will be decreased almost twice to 20 lei, if the service is provided in 15 days, 40 lei – in five days, 60 lei – in one day, and 100 lei in an hour. The examination of the application for changing the name or surname will cost 80 lei in 30 days, as against 100 lei at present, 240 lei in 15 days, 400 lei in five days, and 640 lei in 24 hours. The amendments also extend the number of persons who benefit from concessions on civil status services by including the adult orphans who continue their studies, but only until the age of 23. The guardianship authorities that promote the interests of children who remained without parental care will also benefit from tax concessions.
