Communist MP Mark Tkachuk Monday was questioned as a witness in the case opened over the April 2009 events. Before the hearing, he stated for the press he will tell the prosecutors that during the April 7 protests he was taking steps to stabilize the political situation in Chisinau and was contacting the embassies of the Western countries, Info-Prim Neo reports. “What I will tell the prosecutors will prove that the Communists Party on April 7 did its utmost to avoid any form of violence, in accordance with the European values and interacting with the Western democracies,” Tkachuk said. Mark Tkachuk said the former President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin ordered Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc not to use force against the protesters in his presence. Tkachuk was questioned by the prosecutors last week as well.
