Mark Tkachuk about presidential elections: We will attack this pseudo-sports competition

The Civic Congress Party, where one of the leaders is former Communist Mark Tkachuk, announced that after the state of emergency is lifted, it will harshly attack the process of preparing for presidential elections. It also pleads for new parliamentary elections as a result of which the Democratic Party of Moldova will not be represented in Parliament, IPN reports.

“Currently, we can speak only about the fact that we will not be able to take part in these so-called presidential elections. After the state of emergency is lifted, we will do our best to attack this process and this pseudo-sports competition called the presidential elections, which decide nothing in the Republic of Moldova and change nothing, but only destabilize the situation, create a false situation of competition and make the people clash when they need consolidation,” Mark Tkachuk stated in the talk show “Fourth Power” on N4 channel.

The ex-MP noted that a red line exists in in all the taken actions and, in the case of the Republic of Moldova, the political class is close to the limit.

“We plead for rerun parliamentary elections that will bring a new Parliament where the Democratic Party will not be present and where there will be a responsible majority able to take anti-crisis decisions. We declared that the Republic of Moldova, the economy, the social sector, the social sphere, the social life, the political existence are close to a red line. Not much time remained owing to the demographic situation and to the fact that the political elites that have ruled for 11 years deal only with the redistribution of resources that are shrinking, including economic resources,” stated Mark Tkachuk.

According to him, the Moldovan political system reached a record of negativism that is emitted by the people and society needs another path.

“Today Moldova needs another direction, including political, where society will represent everyone’s interests and the interests of the families of the 101 MPs and a part of the Government will not persist. If this is not done, Moldova will fail, will face an economic collapse and we anticipated this even before the pandemic. Now things are much more serious. The people currently have a very negative attitude to political parties. In the last polls, the PSMR has 16%, the PAS 8%, the DA Platform 2%, 60% of the electors will not vote for anyone. This is a fiasco not only of parties, but of the whole political system.”
