Marius Lazurca to become Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau
Marius Lazurca was suggested for the post of Ambassador of Romania to Moldova. The Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconsky confirmed the information. The name of the new ambassador could be officially announced by the Romanian President Traian Basescu during his visit to Chisinau on January 27, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the publication “Jurnalul National” (“National Journal”).
Marius Lazurca is now Romania's Ambassador to the Vatican. He is 38 and is native of Timisoara. He graduated from the Western University in Timisoara and has a Master's and a Doctor's Degree of History-Anthropology from Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris IV).
According to the quoted publication, Teodor Baconsky said the new Ambassador of Romania to Moldova should be very intellectual as the elites in Moldova are very sensitive to this dimension.
Romania and Moldova have not had ambassadors in Chisinau and Bucharest since April 2009. Following the violent April protests in Chisinau, the Moldovan authorities declared the Romanian Ambassador Filip Teodorescu persona non gratae and rejected later the candidacy of Mihnea Constantinescu fielded for this post.
Also, the Government of Moldova recalled the Moldovan Ambassador in Bucharest Lidia Gutu.
