Marius Lazurca: Romania will continue to help Moldova’s people

Romania will continue to help the people of the Republic of Moldovan even if it will not yet provide the loan promised last autumn by former Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca said in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“After we brought 100,000 tonnes of sugar, we now prepare to deliver 20,000 parcels with food products weighing 5 kg each. These will be distributed to people in need. The next humanitarian lot will consist of 16,000 tonnes of crude oil, intended for the reserves of the thermoelectric plants,” stated the Romanian diplomat.

Marius Lazurca said he is optimistic that Moldova will ultimately benefit from the loan promised by the Government of Romania. “Together we worked out a roadmap and are now in the middle of this road. We see that the Republic of Moldova is fulfilling the assumed commitments. The appointment of the National Bank governor is one of these commitments. Romania asked that the governor should be chosen according to particular conditions, within a transparent process. I’m sure that Moldova will soon be able to benefit from the first tranche of €160 million of the loan promised earlier,” he stated.
