A party that controls justice can become the subject of people’s dissatisfaction, Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca said in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“I cannot confirm that justice is controlled namely by the PDM. But I can warn that when a party controls justice, this can attract people’s revolt, even when it makes no contribution to a particular sentence. All those who are dissatisfied with the justice system will aim their revolt at that political party,” said Lazurca.
The diplomat considers the situation in Moldovan justice worsened. “The people want fair justice. They want to be sure that they will be helped in a difficult moment of their life,” he stated.
Asked about Vlad Filat’s arrest, Marius Lazurca said that he has mixed feelings. “Filat had been our dialogue partner during many years. What we want now is for Filat to benefit from a decent detention regime, his presumption of innocence to be respected and for him to have a trial where he could defend himself,” stated the ambassador.
As to the loan of €150 million promised by Romania to Moldova, the diplomat noted that its provision will depend on the future Government. “We don’t know when it will be formed, what its configuration will be and what it will want. If the future Government does not want to borrow money, we will be unable to oblige it,” said Marius Lazurca.
