Marina Tauber says government wants to remove her from race at any cost

The Șor Party’s candidate for mayor of the municipality of Bălți Marina Tauber said the government wants to remove her from the electoral race at any cost. According to her, such actions are illegal, IPN reports.

“We have information, witnesses and evidence showing that the CEC member nominated by President Maia Sandu, Pavel Postica, yesterday convoked the CEC members and ordered them to vote for my exclusion from the race. It happened yesterday, but until now we also witnessed attacks and pressure against me and our sympathizers. There is no legal reason for such decisions. Pavel Postica told the CEC members that this order comes from the upper level and advised them not to oppose,” Marina Tauber stated in a press briefing.

According to her, representatives of the government say the elections were rigged, but international observers recognized the results of the November 21 elections. Marina Tauber called on the diplomatic missions working in Moldova to attentively monitor the developments related to the local elections in Bălți, noting her exclusion from the race would be a flagrant violation of human rights.

Her mate, MP Denis Ulanov said their team was accused of illegally spending money in the campaign, but this subject was clarified when all the financial reports and required documents were presented. The authorities are trying to invent all kinds of pretexts.

In the first round of the snap mayoral elections in the municipality of Bălți, Marina Tauber gained 47.93% of the poll, being followed by independent candidate Nicolai Grigorishin with 20.93% of the vote. The two will contend in the runoff vote on December 5.
