Marina Tauber loses MP salary and other allowances

Marina Tauber, a Member of Parliament (MP) closely associated with fugitive Ilan Shor, has lost her parliamentary salary, as well as the allowances and compensations associated with her position. The reason for suspending these payments is her unexcused absences from plenary sessions and permanent committee meetings since the beginning of this year, IPN reports.

At the proposal of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments, and Immunities, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu signed an order stipulating that the payments will resume once the MP attends the sessions.

According to parliamentary regulations, an MP who is unable to attend a session for reasons other than protesting against an agenda item is required to inform the Permanent Bureau of the reason for their absence.

The Parliament's Communication and Public Relations Directorate stated that throughout this year, Marina Tauber has not provided justification for her absences from plenary sessions and permanent committee meetings.

Last summer, Tauber was banned from leaving the country in connection with a case involving the illegal financing of political parties, in which she is a suspect. The restriction was extended until the end of the year. The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported that on January 7 of this year, Tauber left the Republic of Moldova via Chisinau International Airport on a flight to Istanbul, Turkey.
