Marina Tauber does not give up, intends to run in local elections in Bălți again

The vice prescient of Șor Party Marina Tauber said she will not give up until she obtains the post of mayor of Bălți as she enjoys the support of the municipality’s residents. The party will challenge her exclusion from the electoral race in the European Court of Human Rights and if this gives a verdict later than the date of the local elections of 2023, she will run again for the mayoralty of the municipality. The government is making effort to outlaw Ilan Șor’s party, IPN reports.

Marina Tauber noted the epopee of the local elections in Bălți is not over and they expect the ECHR will prove the abuses committed by the government by excluding her from the race. She will become the mayor of Bălți either as a result of the ECHR judgment or after winning the local elections of 2023.

“I think I will become mayor earlier than in 2023. We will go to the European Court of Human Rights. We said that we will continue fighting and we are sure the ECHR will rule in our favor. We are sure that justice will be on our side. I will serve as mayor as I was elected mayor by the people. We are preparing the documents for the ECHR. If the procedure at the ECHR lasts, I will run in next year’s elections. There are no legal reasons not to admit me to the race. What happened was a political act, an act of hysteria and panic on the part of PAS, which realized that we were leading by far and were to show what real management is to the people,” Marina Tauber stated in the program “The Fourth Estate” on N4 TV channel.

Tauber noted that the government’s actions aimed at outlawing Șor Party have intensified and these actions reveal that the government is afraid of competition as polls show their party continuously improves its rating.

“They are afraid of Șor Party. We are the only party following an upward trend at the moment. They realize that we are the next party that will come to power. We are now supported by over 20% of the population and this is not few. PAS came to power and does not know what to do with this power. It cannot manage the country and cannot have a dialogue with the opposition. They should leave and should not be so concerned about Șor Part
y. From morning till night, those from PAS and Maia Sandu deal not with administration, but with Ilan Șor and Șor Party and this was seen in the elections held in Bălți,” said the MP.

Marina Tauber was removed from the competition for the mayoralty of Bălți in December 2021, after she won the first round of voting. It happened after the Central Election Commission identified irregularities in the funding of Şor Party’s election campaign consisting in the use of undeclared funds totaling at least 34,000 lei.
