Marian Lupu: We launched official negotiations on formation of government coalition

The official negotiations to form a new government coalition were started in the evening of November 9 and the document based on which the new coalition will work was presented in them, the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu said after the talks that also involved the leaders of the PL and PPEM, IPN reports.

“There was drafted a working document on which the future government coalition will be based. It is a public offer designed to provide answers to all the questions and to dissipate all the suspicions about the European integration. We agreed not to begin with the distribution of posts. It is an offer for the whole society and also for all the pro-European MPs and parliamentary groups. We aim to adopt a responsible approach. All the submitted proposals derive from several general goals: implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU and dealing with economic and social matters. Tomorrow morning the document will be available on the website of the Democratic Party,” stated Lupu.

He announced that the next round of talks will take place on November 10, starting at 7:30pm, and invited the Lib-Dems to it. “It is a general invitation. There is no place for those who are sulky in the current politics. If those from the PLDM come, it will be very good. If they do not, they and society will see what we, those who take part in the drafting of this accord, aspire to. I think this agreement will hold interest for most of the MPs and I hope we will have a majority coalition of at least 51 MPs. The reason for the anger is not our vote for the no-confidence motion, but our vote for the removal of the immunity of Vlad Filat. If the vote to withdraw the immunity hadn’t been held, they would have come to the negotiations swiftly, without frustrations and resentment,” said the Democrats’ leader.

Marian Lupu also said that the decision of the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis to send back the law on the ratification of the agreement to lend €150 million to Moldova to Parliament for reexamination is logical. “There are at least two reasons. First of all, we should not forget that Romania also has an acting Cabinet, as Moldova does. The assistance from the EU member states, including Romania, is intended to support Moldova’s European course. It’s logical for the President of Romania to want to be sure that the future Government of Moldova will continue to implement the Association Agreement. They also face internal difficulties and we should not neglect this fact,” stated the leader of the PDM.
