Speaker Marian Lupu published a message in his personal website, calling on the people to hoist the tricolor on their homes or at the workplace on the occasion of the Flag Day, Info-Prim Neo reports. “As a citizen of this state, I will raise a flag on the building where I live on April 27. I urge everyone to put up by a flag at the places where they are happy with their families or at the workplace to show that the Flag Day is really a people’s holiday,” said the Head of Parliament. “The symbols of a country are the main distinctive features of an independent state. The National Flag Day enables us to render homage to these symbols. This day is not a holiday of the state administration. It is rather an additional reason for every Moldovan to be proud of the state symbols. Every flag hoisted by us on or near our homes will give proportions to this holiday,” Marian Lupu wrote on his blog. The National Flag Day in Moldova is celebrated on April 27. The holiday was instituted by Parliament on April 23, 2010. The tricolor was officially designated as the national flag by the members of the first Parliament on April 27, 1990.
