Marian Lupu to present in Strasbourg results obtained in promoting democratic reforms in Moldova
The speaker of the Parliament, Marian Lupu will pay a work visit to Strasbourg during October 1-4, during which he will present the results obtained in promoting democratic reforms and strengthening a law-based state as result of the pro-European option and engagements taken by Moldova as member of the Council of Europe.
In this context, Marian Lupu will present implementation stage of the Legislative actions Calendar Program (adopted through the Decision of the Parliament in November 2005), as well as of the Moldova-EU Action Plan, due to the interdependence of these documents. Also the speaker will talk about the results of the activity performed by the Moldovan Parliament during the spring-summer session 2006, and about the priority tasks for the autumn session of 2006.
The agenda of the visit includes a series of bilateral meetings with officials of the Council of Europe: PACE chairman Rene Van der Linden, general secretary of CE Terry Davis, chairman of Regions Chamber of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of CoE Yavuz Mildon, leaders of political groups from PACE, heads of PACE commissions, heads of general directorates of CE.
At the same time, the parliamentary delegation of Moldova to PACE will participate in its plenary session, which will open on October 2. The delegation is headed by the deputy chairman of the Parliament, Maria Postoico. Also, the delegation includes MP Valeriu Cosarciuc (AMN faction) and Dumitru Diacov (PDM faction).
