Marian Lupu: There is enough place at table of Parliament presidium

Speaker Marian Lupu said there is enough place at the table of the Parliament’s presidium. He made the statement after the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberals should hold the post of First Deputy Head of Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
However, Marian Lupu avoided saying what steps his party will take. “The PDM is ready to respect the provisions of the political agreement and show understanding and partnership within the parliamentary majority that should be strengthened,” he stated.
He also said that he went through similar situations in 2009, when Vlad Filat was given the post of Premier, while Mihai Ghimpu held the post of Speaker and acting President. “We must support each other within a partnership. I think there are situations when every politician must show courage and consistency. The table is long and spacious and there is place for one more chair there,” said Marian Lupu.
In a TV program, Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberal Party renounces the post of Speaker that should belong to it under the AEI Agreement, but wants instead to control a law enforcement institution and to hold the post of First Deputy Speaker. According to the AEI Agreement, the seat of Speaker was to be held by Mihai Ghimpu if Marian Lupu was elected head of state.
