Marian Lupu: Subject of government officials’ pay can wait

The remuneration of MPs, ministers, the President and Speaker is a subject that can wait, said Head of Parliament Marian Lupu. “Now that the salaries of public servants were increased, we should raise the pays of the personnel of the local public administration and other categories of budget-funded employees,” Marian Lupu told the reporters, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. He stressed that this proposal will be soon presented as an official suggestion in Parliament during debates. As to the intention of the State Guard Service to purchase three luxury cars for the senior government officials, the Speaker said that he found out about this from the media. He stated that he made inquires and established that the money was earmarked one or two years ago. Marian Lupu said the car he uses now is in a good state and he does not need a new one. The head of the State Guard Service said recently that they will buy three limousines for the head of state, the Premier and the Head of Parliament as the cars used at present are old and endanger officials’ lives.
