Human capital, national economy, functioning and strengthening of the state are three key directions on which the presidential platform of the Democratic candidate for President Marian Lupu, entitled “Powerful Moldova, prosperous Moldova”, is based. As Head of State, the Democratic leader aims to attract investments and create new well-paid jobs and to ensure the European integration, which, according to him, is the only source for developing the country and solving the internal problems, IPN reports.
In a news conference, the leader of the PDM said that if he is elected President, he will focus on the human resources of the country, namely on the development of the education system, social protection, family protection and increase in financing for strengthening the health system. He also aims to establish a partnership between the state and the church for cultivating spiritual development.
As regards the national economy, Marian Lupu intends to massively attract investments, especially European ones, which, according to him, are the only source of new jobs that can persuade the Moldovan working abroad to return home. Among the priorities, the Democrat also mentioned the improvement of the agriculture subsidization system, development of infrastructure and Moldova’s connection to alternative gas supply sources, namely the continuation of the project to build the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, etc.
The third point from the candidate’s presidential platform refers to the functioning and strengthening of the state, which will be based on the justice sector reform, corruption fighting and ensuring of national security. As to the Transnistrian conflict, Marian Lupu said he opposes the federalization as he considers this variant a danger to Moldova’s existence. At foreign level, the Democrat aims to implement the Association Agreement with the EU, which, according to him, offers Moldova the possibility of maintaining free commercial relations with the European states. The submission of the application for membership in the EU is another goal mentioned by the leader of the PDM.
Attending the event, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said he sees Marian Lupu as President given his personal and professional qualities and experience in different areas. “We need first of all a sensible President who will be able to take important decisions for the country in periods of crises, by balancing the emotions so that the decisions are the best ones. We need a President able to build, not to destroy,” he stated.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated the Republic of Moldova regained confidence in the external partners and is close to signing an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. Moldova needs a President who will cooperate with the Government and Parliament. Owing to such cooperation, Moldova can swiftly be modernized and can become a state built on the basis of European values.
Marian Lupu tops the list of candidates on the ballot.
