Marian Lupu: PDM answers President’s call

The Democratic Party (PDM) is ready to hold discussions for overcoming the political crisis in the nearest future, the party’s chairman Marian Lupu said in a press briefing on February 19, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We are determined to find solutions to the crisis created by the PLDM as soon as possible. The PDM answered President Nicolae Timofti’s call for dialogue. But the dialogue should be real, constructive and without maneuvers behind the scenes. We are waiting for definite proposals. The people are waiting for deeds and action,” said Marian Lupu. He also said that the PLDM’s decision to renounce the AEI agreement announced a week ago aroused the people’s concern. The people are worried and disapprove of this situation because the political chaos can have negative effects on the country and the foreign policy. The chairman of the PDM said he had a series of telephone conversations with ambassadors working in Chisinau, who expressed their bewilderment at the created situation. “What the foreign partners cannot understand is how one can neglect a political agreement and put the country’s national objectives at risk,” said the Democratic leader. Speaking about the inspections carried out by the National Anticorruption Center and the recordings of phone conversations disseminated by the media, Marian Lupu said the PDM exerts no political pressure in these cases. On February 13, Vlad Filat announced that the PLDM withdrew from the agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration. He said they were ready to negotiate a new accord that will exclude the oligarchic principles.
