Marian Lupu orders focusing on crime situation

Acting President Marian Lupu instructed the Minister of the Interior and the Prosecutor General to pay increased attention to the crime situation in the country. In spring, the Presidential Office started to receive complaints from people, who say banditry acts are witnessed in many districts. Related issues were discussed in a meeting of the Supreme Security Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, the meeting centered on the results of the investigations into the cases of armed robbery and maltreatment of persons in the districts of Ocnita, Drochia, Stefan Voda, Soroca and others. The Minister of the Interior and the Prosecutor General said a group of persons committed seven robberies and maltreated persons in northern Moldova and in Chisinau. The members of the group were arrested and the legal cases against them were sent to court. Another criminal group who committed a number of offenses, including a murder in Larga, Briceni, will also stand trial. Marian Lupu asked laying emphasis on the prevention of crimes by informing the people within a dialogue with the relevant institutions. He said more such meetings will take place and the Supreme Security Council will monitor all the cases and trends as regards the crime situation.
