Marian Lupu: Moldova-Russia relations must not be built from the point of view of the Transnistria settlement

The relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation must not be built from the point of view of the Transnistrian conflict settlement, Speaker Marian Lupu stated at a meeting with Russia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Moldova Valerii Kuzimin, on Wednesday, September 26. In this connection, the collocutors pleaded for giving the economic and cultural relations the deserved attention. The Russian diplomat pointed out that the Days of Moldovan Culture, currently taking place in Russia, will notably bring closer the peoples of the two countries. He also suggested a similar event should be held in Chisinau. In addition, the Speaker and the Russian Ambassador discussed the opportunity of intensifying bilateral relations at parliamentary level, including by organising actions that would involve representatives of the business circles from Moldova and Russia with a view to prompting trade relations and establishing business partnerships. Marian Lupu and Valerii Kuzimin also stressed the necessity of building bilateral relations in a constructive and balanced manner and in view of respecting the interests of the citizens of both countries.
