The Republic of Moldova enjoys the overall support of the EU administration and member states and of the current presidency of the European Union for its European course, the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu said on his return from Bratislava, Brussels and New York, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, the Democratic candidate for President said that in Bratislava, which he visited on the invitation of his colleagues from the Party of European Socialists, he had meetings with nine Prime Ministers of EU member states and with the minister of foreign affairs of Slovakia, which now holds the presidency of the Council of the EU.
While in New York, Marian Lupu took part in the Socialist International Presidium meeting as the vice president of the Socialist International. He discussed with a number of Social-Democratic colleagues from Europe and met with the ex-Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Social-Democrat Eero Heinäluoma.
The politician also visited Brussels on the invitation of Social-Democratic MEPs. There, he met with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz. ”We tried and think that we managed to ensure Moldova’s presence at important forums and debates at European and world levels,” he stated.
Marian Lupu said the development partners expressed their political, economic and financial support for contributing to raising the living standards in Moldova to the European level. The team of the PDM received messages of support. “It was said trenchantly that the Democratic Party is seen as the driving force of the European integration process in Moldova, being the most important, most serious, best organized and most stable and consistent party in promoting the European project,” he stated.
According to him, the foreign partners said they support him in the October 30 presidential elections.
