Marian Lupu meets with UNDP Representative and Swedish Ambassador

Speaker and Acting President of Moldova Marian Lupu and the UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Kaarina Immonen Tuesday discussed the reform strategy that is to be implemented by the legislative body’s Secretariat and the UNDP within the Support to Parliamentary Development in Moldova Project. The meeting was also attended by Swedish Ambassador to Moldova Ingrid Tersman, senior technical adviser of the project Johan Hommes, and secretary general of the Parliament of Moldova Adrian Fetescu, the legislature’s press service has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Marian Lupu said the Strategic Development Plan of the Parliament’s Secretariat for 2011-2013 was presented to the legislature’s management. The report on the functional and institutional analysts of the Parliament’s Secretariat will be rendered in one of the next meetings of the Standing Bureau. Kaarina Immonen reiterated the development partners’ readiness to provide support to the legislative body in improving its work. She spoke about the program of activities that will be carried out as part of the Support to Parliamentary Development in Moldova Project in 2011. The Support to Parliamentary Development in Moldova Project was devised at the Parliament’s request following the devastation of the legislature’s building during the April 2009 events and the commitment made to improve the functioning of the legislative body, in compliance with the European norms. The project is implemented during a four-year-period.
