The independence generation must be succeeded by the European integration generation, while the independence must be put to good use by voluntarily joining a union of prosperous, free and democratic states – the European Union, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said in a scientific conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of independence, held at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, IPN reports.
“There was a period of time after the declaration of independence when we groped in the darkness and didn’t find our way, probably because we felt shaky after becoming masters ourselves. Several years ago, an option started to crystalize and a consensus started to be shaped around the country project of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Marian Lupu.
According to him, everyone knows what they want – a functional state, infrastructure that meets the European standards, reinvigorated industry and realized agricultural potential, welfare in villages and towns. “And we want to be proud of what we do now, not only of what the previous generations left,” said the politician.
The Democratic leader also said that if Moldova follows this road, it will achieve the ideals of August 27, 1991, namely the rule of law, prosperous market economy, country respected at world level and a future for the successors.
