The PLDM-PDM alliance was the only solution possible in the conditions existing in Moldova. The two parties assumed a responsibility and there was invested a technocratic government that has to do a lot now, the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu said in the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.

According to him, the PDM supported without reserves the candidate for premiership Chiril Gaburici, who is now not only the PLDM’s candidate, but also the representative of the Political Alliance for European Moldova. “It is our commitment, of the two parties. It is a common responsibility. This Government has two major tasks: to take steps to develop Moldova and to continue the country’s European course,” he stated.

According to him, this government formula is a derivate of the current political conjuncture. “This political agreement could theoretically have another configuration, but it is the only realistic formula, which turned out to be viable,” stated Marian Lupu.

He also said that the political negotiations were held amid a difficult financial and political situation that affected significantly the people’s daily needs. “If the Liberals had wanted to take part in governance, they would have agreed to form part of the new coalition. They showed a lot of stubbornness and zero flexibility. We were obliged to choose such a variant,” said the leader of the PDM.

As to the depreciation of the Moldovan lei, Marian Lupu said Moldova is not the only country in the CIS region that has a volatile economy and faces such problems, but the Gaburici Government already started to take steps to stabilize the situation.

The Government headed by Chiril Gaburici received a vote of confidence from Parliament on February 18. It was voted in by the MPs of the PLDM, PDM and PCRM.
