The federalization of the Republic of Moldova is a dangerous project that can lead to the disappearance of the state, chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu stated in the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.
Marian Lupu said in the two referendums held in the Transnistrian region, the people said they do not want the region to form part of the Republic of Moldova. “The results of these plebiscites weren’t recognized by anyone. If Transnistria has a special status, such a referendum could be held again and its results will be recognized already. Federalization is an unsuccessful method that endangers the existence of the Republic of Moldova,” argued the Democratic heavyweight.
As to Igor Dodon, who pleads for the federalization of the Republic of Moldova, Marian Lupu said the Democratic Party is ready to cooperate with the new President. “As the election campaign is over, he should realize that he is an employee of a state institution and we must cooperate as in other normal states,” he said.
In the program, Lupu specified that he withdrew from the race for the presidency in order to avoid an event similar to “April 7”.
