Marian Lupu: Discussions with PCRM should start tomorrow

The chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu said the negotiations between the PDM, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Liberal Party (PL) on the formation of the pro-European government coalition reached an impasse because of the PL. He made such a statement after a new round of talks between the three parties that was held in the evening of January 12, IPN reports.

According to Lupu, the Liberal Party insists on being offered the post of head of state. “The PL considers that the three key state posts must be distributed, but the post of head of state cannot be distributed,” he stated.

The head of the PDM pleaded for extending the format of the talks by including the Communists in them. “We must reach a compromise. We continue the discussions, but we have made no progress in this format during 40 days. This situation is worrisome. There is not much time left. I think the negotiations with the Party of Communists (PCRM) will start in a short period of time, but we will not negotiate separately,” he said

Marian Lupu also said that the discussions with the PCRM should start tomorrow (January 13 – e.n.), but the negotiations with the Liberals will also be continued.
