The possibility of early legislative elections is 50 to 50, considers Head of Parliament Marian Lupu. He said that the head of state will have to put forward a candidate for premiership by the end of this week, irrespective of whether a parliamentary majority is formed or not by then, IPN reports.
“The coming days can indeed produce results as regards the formation of a parliamentary majority, the setting of its format, the fielding of a candidate for the post of Premier. However, such results may not be achieved. But I know for sure that the head of state does not have time in reserve, whether this is the first or the second scenario,” said Marian Lupu.
The Speaker believes that President Nicolae Timofti’s steps are dictated by the Constitution and by civic responsibility and the common sense law, and he understands very well that society cannot be kept in such a state of suspense.
