Marian Lupu: All institutions acted in accordance with the law

All the law enforcement bodies acted in accordance with the law and took correct decisions in the case of the raider attacks on four banks, Acting President Marian Lupu said after a meeting with officials of the relevant institutions that lasted for about three hours, Info-Prim Neo reports. “All the institutions took the necessary measures within the law. Some of them had to act on a razor edge. The situation was serious, but all the possible decisions were taken,” said Marian Lupu. According to him, the authors of the four attacks were different. The case at “Moldova Agroindbank” is the only one triggered by a court decision adopted outside the country, at an ad-hoc arbitration court in Saint Petersburg. The Prosecutor General’s Office is taking steps in concert with the Russian authorities to determine all the circumstances of this case. Marian Lupu said that none of the four banks filed complaints to the law enforcement bodies. “I asked for additional information to see why. Maybe they don’t consider themselves victims or there are other explanations. I cannot say, but this is the reality,” he stated. “The Supreme Court of Justice is to take a decision on September 14. The further developments depend on the court. I think pressure should not be exerted on the judiciary as this is against the law. The judges must show professionalism and take objective decisions,” said Marian Lupu. Earlier this week, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that four banks operating in Moldova were the targets of raider attacks.
