Marian Lupu: AEI has not yet distributed posts
The president of the Liberal Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu said Wednesday that the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) has not yet decided how to distribute the key posts in the state. “The discussions go on,” Marian Lupu said.
Making reference to reliable sources in the AEI, the press reported Wednesday that Lupu would like to hold the post of Speaker, not as the four Liberal-Democratic leaders agreed. Asked to comment, the PDM leader denied these reports, stressing that the discussions are not based on one’s wishes to hold or not a certain post.
Under the previous agreements, as reported by the press, the post of Speaker was to be held by the president of the PLDM Vlad Filat. Now Marian Lupu would like the position of head of Parliament so as to be the acting president of Moldova in case of early elections.
”Our task is much more complicated. The AEI’s goal is to elect the Speaker, constitute the working bodies of the Parliament, elect the head of state and the prime minister and govern the county,” Marian Lupu told IPN. “We must pursue this objective no matter what obstacles the Communists Party (PCRM) erects.
”If we achieve this objective, we will avoid new early elections, which would be a catastrophe,” he said.
Asked who might spread false information about the distribution of the posts, Marian Lupu said that it could be a trick by the PCRM and it is rather improbable that it was a leak from the AEI. “This information is disseminated by those that do not want the coalition to be strong, but want to destroy it,” Marian Lupu said.
The first sitting of the new Parliament was set for August 28.
The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu earlier said that the three main posts will be held by the PLDM, PL and PDM and that the AMN agrees with this.
