Manej Sports Venue to be restored

The Sports Venue “Manej” in Chisinau is one of the five sports centres of national significance that the Government pledges to reconstruct, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev stated during a visit at the respective institution.
The prime-minister has also mentioned that the Government currently tries to create sports centres in each of Moldova’s districts and to reconstruct five sports centres of national importance: the Chisinau Central Stadium, the Republican Stadium, the Nautical Complex “Feroviarul”, to modernise the “Romanesti” athletic facility and restore Manej sports hall.
The head of the executive requested the Sports Agency to present in due time the Conception regarding Manej’s reconstruction, so that the restoration works could begin by late 2007.
Works on demolishing the Republican Stadium have recently begun and their completion is planned for late August. Afterwards, it will be reconstructed and modernised according to the highest standards.
The expenses for the stadium’s reconstruction will be covered by the Moldovan Football Federation.
The Republican Stadium was built in 1952 and was restored only in 1974.
