Managers of state enterprises could see wage cuts
The Government will examine today, October 31, an initiative regarding the amendment of the Law on wages, which stipulates wage cuts for the managers of state enterprises, of enterprises in which the state is the major shareholder and of monopolist enterprises, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the initiative of a group of MPs, the salaries of such officials, established through a contract between the director and the company founder (the Government or one of its Ministries), will be limited to three average monthly wages. Currently, the limit is set at five average salaries. The proposal also limits the bonuses to 6 monthly wages per year, calculated according to the economic results of the enterprises.
The issue of exaggerated remuneration of the managers of state enterprises has been discussed often at the meetings of the Government or of the national commission for collective consultations and negotiations. The discontent arises as a result of the directors having wages of hundreds of thousands lei per year, while the other employees have strikingly lower wages.
The legislative initiative doesn’t concern the wages of heads of agencies or similar institutions, considered independent, who are appointed by the Government or by the Parliament.
