The budget of Chisinau municipality does not include money for covering the costs associated with the centralized making and installation of plates with street names and apartment building numbers. In a response to an inquiry made by IPN News Agency, the General Public Amenities Division of Chisinau says the local public authorities are not responsible for the placing or replacement of these plates. This is the task of block managers.

The Chisinau City Hall does not have a subdivision that would check the correctness of the street names written on the plates. Also, there are no common standards as to the size, color, font or material of these boards that would have been approved by the local public authorities.

The cost of a plate is estimated at 210 lei.

According to the latest data available, of 2014, 11 million lei is needed to place street board plates where these are absent and to put number plates on buildings, in accordance with the calculations presented by the General Public Amenities Division.
